What are the financial obligations for participating in the Marching Band?

Marching Band is funded by a combination of the $40 fee due at class registration, and an additional $500  funded by a combination of direct payment or work done at fundraisers such as the Broncos or Rockies games, Bingo for the Guard,  King Soopers or SCRIPS, to name just a few.   No student will be kept from participating in the program due to financial difficulties, however if a student cannot pay they will be expected to work at fundraising, and all students will be required to work the two mandatory fundraisers, Tag Day and the Craft Fair. Please contact Tammy Ahmed with any questions.

What if I am unable to pay these fees or cannot work what is requested of me?

Additional fundraising opportunities are provided to help cover the participation fee and for students/families that are unable to work the above events. Additional fundraisers may also be used to accrue cash in student accounts to be used for trips, fees, etc. Note that no student will be excluded from the band program because of financial difficulties. Please contact Tammy Ahmed directly and your situation will remain confidential.

Why is the cost so high and what do my volunteering efforts support?

The Music program is the most expensive class that is offered at BCHS. The fundraising done by the Music Boosters literally funds everything you see in the band room. Repair and replacement are a considerable cost, truck maintenance that transports our student equipment, funding for teaching assistants, music arranging, copyright permission, drill writing costs, etc. When compared to other high school music programs, BCHS is among the lowest in the district.

What will happen if we don't collectively meet our goals?

Simply put, the students in the program will suffer. Bear Creek has had a long tradition of excellence supported almost entirely by the BCHS Music Boosters. We hope to maintain this continued support and allow our students the ability to achieve excellence at a state and national level.

What is the King Soopers fundraiser?

King Soopers certificates are a fundraising opportunity that earns for the student by simply buying groceries with certificates. These certificates are good at King Soopers, City Market, Safeway, Albertson's, and Kroeger affiliated stores. 5% of the value is put directly into the student account. (For example, if you spend $200 a week for groceries and you buy $200 worth of certificates, you get $200 worth of groceries + $10 in your student account). See the Fund Raising page for more details.

What is the Invesco Field fundraiser?

Students and families are encouraged to meet their marching band fees by working at Invesco Field and at Rapids Games. Students must be 16 or over to work these events. Until this time, parents are able to work at a concession booth at Invesco Field. See the Fund Raising page for more details.

How do I know if I have met my fee obligations?

Each fundraiser has a coordinator that keeps track of who is working (and actually worked). Concession events like the Bronco games are tracked by the Music Booster Treasurer. Regularly, student account statements are provided which contain credit for fundraising events worked.

What is the bottom line of my obligation as a member of the marching band?

The Marching Band teaches teamwork, responsibility, excellence and accountability.  Our students learn from experience in a program such as this that with opportunity has obligations, and we will work with any and all students to meet their financial, educational and personal goals.
