Marching band is so much more than marching!
Every year, our director leads dozens of Bear Creek High School students, a small army of family volunteers, and a creative team to producing a spectacular theme show filled with music, movement, & color.
Although the show is performed during the halftime of most home varsity football games, the best part of marching band are the competitions. Bear Creek's band competes in Colorado Bandmaster Association sanctioned competitions with other bands throughout the state to challenge ourselves to do the best we can and seek glory for our school.
If you've never been to a CBA competition, it is quite the experience! Every fifteen minutes, a band takes the field. In that short amount of time, the band must move to the field, set up their equipment (instruments, flags/rifles, PA, etc) & set up their props (sets), do the performance, and then clear everything off the field. A panel of expert judges then scores each group and provides constructive guidance. It's like musical performance as a sport!
A marching band program is no small feat! Each season, the Grizzly Regiment produces a musical & visual program that is performed not only at Bear Creek's varsity home football games, but also at multiple front-range Colorado Bandmaster's Association sanctioned marching band competitions & state finals in September and October.
