The Bear Creek High School Grizzly Regiment has a proud tradition of excellence. The Grizzly Regiment is an extracurricular ensemble consisting of woodwinds, brass, percussion, and color guard.
The band performs at all home football games as well as marching competitions throughout the August & September The Grizzly Regiment has consistently been near the top of its division at the Colorado Bandmasters Association State Marching Festival.
Every year, our director leads dozens of students, a small army of volunteers, and a creative team to produce spectacular themed show filled with music, movement, color, & story.
Although the show is performed during the halftime of most BCHS home varsity football games, the biggest part of marching band are the competitions!
Bear Creek's band competes in Colorado Bandmaster Association sanctioned competitions with other schools throughout the state to challenge ourselves to do the best we can and seek glory for our school.
If you've never been to a CBA competition, it is quite the experience! Every fifteen minutes, a band takes the field, sets up their equipment & props, performs, and then clears everything. A panel of national expert judges scores each group and provides constructive guidance. Over the course of the season, we focus on improving our performance to attain the highest scores possible! It's like musical performance art as a sport!
The Grizzly Regiment is divided into five sections:
Brass : Trumpets, trombones, tubas, baritones, etc
Woodwinds: Saxophones, flutes, clarinets, etc
Battery (Drumline): Snare drum, bass drum, quads, cymbals, etc.
Percussion (Pit): Mallets, keyboards, guitars, bass, rack percussion, etc
Color Guard: Flags, batons, "rifles", choreography
Each section has a student leader responsible for keeping their group unified and on-track.
All Bear Creek High School Students are eligible to participate in the Grizzly Regiment!
