Percussion (Instrumental Ensemble) is a co-curricular course that meets both semesters. Students work on percussion ensemble, concert band, and marching band music. Students combine with the other band classes to perform at concerts and competitions throughout the year. Percussion is open to any Bear Creek High School student who plays percussion. Percussion students in the Grizzly Regiment are required to be in this class both semesters. Visit the Grizzly Regiment page for more information. Students are eligible for Jeffco Honor and All State.
Winter Percussion

The Bear Creek High School Winter Percussion group is a competitive percussion ensemble that will perform at both in-person and video-recorded ‘virtual’ opportunities through the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association (RMPA). Our performances marry the elements of music performance, marching, and theatre in an indoor setting.
The BCHS Winter Percussion groups have been 11 time state champions, WGI National Finalists and have been selected to perform at the Music For All National Percussion Festival as one of the top 12 ensembles in the US. Season begins in January and the ensemble competes through April. |

REHEARSALS:
|
After school, from 3:30-5:45pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays (with certain exceptions noted in our handbook).

PERFORMANCE:
|
In-person competitions will take place at area schools beginning in February and culminating with State Finals on April 13.
|
|
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:
|
All members are held to strict standards of commitment, academic success, and professional attitude. Be prepared for participation in an accelerated ensemble.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT:
|
The BCHSPE won’t work without parent & volunteer help. Drive our kids, move performance equipment, or help with some of the other needs our group has in our quest to success.

Additional Information
1) Check-In/Health Screening will be like it was for marching band, only students will now report to the "backyard" as we call it (the west side of the building by the band room/auditorium area). This will begin at 3:00 PM.
2) Pick-Up will be at the south parking lot.
3) We will rehearse outdoors, weather permitting. Precipitation, excessive wind, and/or temperatures below 45 degrees will force us indoors (band room, stage, etc.). That being said, plan to have cold weather clothing/accessories at hand for ALL rehearsals!
4) If you anticipate a late arrival, early release, or an absence for any rehearsal, a parent must email or text Colin Constance at [email protected] or (785) 979-5618 to be excused. Thank you to those who have already contacted me about conflicts for the first rehearsal!
5) Lastly, students that still have a drumline instrument at home need to bring that to the next rehearsal, please.
